Inspection Box

Inspection Box
Designed to make the inspection process quick and easy for the beekeeper and safe for the bees.
As illustrated, the Inspection box clips onto the brood chamber during inspection, allowing the removal and temporary storage of frames giving space for a safe inspection. The unique clips are designed to also hold a frame, allowing the beekeeper to have both hands free to carry out various operations on the frame easily, such as catching the Queen to mark or clip her, to remove queen cells carefully or even to graft larvae in the field. the frame is held at an angle over the brood chamber so that any bees falling off the frame (including the Queen) falls back into the brood chamber.
The Inspection box is constructed mainly from 6mm marine birch ply, the lid and the base are edged in hardwood to withstand the knocks and bumps it will inevitably sustain while being used. The clips are fabricated from laser cut stainless steel.
The box holds three frames comfortably on two stainless steel rods. It has a closing lid to protect the frames from sun, wind and wasps.
The edges are mitred and there are hardwood handles on each end and a shoulder strap for easy carrying.
Built into the underside of the box is a handle which allows the beekeeper to turn the box upside down with one hand and shake out any bees left inside after completing the inspection.
The box has two rare earth magnets embedded into it to hold the lid firmly open while shaking any remaining bees out.
All metal parts are stainless steel and the whole box is coated in a tough polyurethane finish and is lightly washable.
